Radeon X1900 cards (R580) have arrived!

Sorry, yet another Pre-order-parasite vendor awaiting the gullible.

Major vendors (such as Newegg or ZipzoomFly) that do not stoop to
pre-orders ( leaving customers hanging for months in an order queue of
indeterminate length ) have not added the X1900 family to their
data-bases yet ----- no launch.

And when the launch really occurs, shall we see a 7800GTX-style with
stock immediately available at multiple vendors and no shortages, or
a 7800GTX512/X1800XT -style launch ---- with a dribble of product
and lots of idiots queued up at the vendors that accept pre-orders
or alternately vendors (or Ebay sellers) that jack the price with a
few hundred dollars premium.... as ZipZoomFly is occasionally
prone to do............ ???

Caveat Emptor... let the (prospective) buyer beware.

Yippie! I've been looking to blow 500 bucks on something that will
cost $150 in less than a year.

Things are maybe not THAT dramatic, but I know too well how much a high-end
video card can drop in value in just two short years.

I'll bet the latter since we're talking about ATI here. And NewEgg is
another vendor who likes to jack the price on hard to find in-demand items.

I'm sure it'll be great for the new 3DMark06.

By the time all that translinear stage buffering, omnidirectional
pixel pitch doubling and 32 pipe redundant resonance rectification
actually gets used in a game, the X1900 will be 150 bucks and the next
500 dollar sucker deal will be available just in time for the 3DMark08
benchmark nerds.

LOL! Good one

Other than lacking SM3.0, my AGP Radeon X800 XT PE will suffice for the time
being. No longer will I blow $400-$500 on a video card.

The price has never really bothered me since I pay for Sky TV in the UK. That
costs me close to £50 a month. That's roughly two top end cards every single
year. Forking out for a top end card every two years for sake of argument is
no big deal.

That is pretty stupid to use your Radeon350 psycho-schizo multiple
personality nickname to make a post about the R580. Whatever happened
to that, Cyg-anus? You totally missed out on adding R580 to your line
of multiple personality psycho-schizo nicknames.

Ugh, that card does not look good:

Bulky, double slot. It is just a little faster than the 7800GTX 256MB
which is down to about $300 now. Looks like 48 pixel processors don't
make up for more unified shader pipes.

Sattelite TV in the US is about a quarter of what you are paying.

A high end graphics card is still alot of money. Considering you could
buy alot of games for that money, or heck, a new gaming console.

Never again will I buy a high in card. It just isn't worth it. I have a
GeForce 6600 GT that cost 185 dollars and it suits me just fine.
