R600 graphics for Xbox 2 ?

R

R420

from what I read on Beyond3D, it appears that Xbox 2 graphics will be
based on ATI's R600, instead of the R500.

this would make sense.

given that the new R420 / Radeon X800 will only have Pixel Shader 2.0+
and not PS 3.0, that means R500 would be the first ATI chip to support
PS 3.0 but probably NOT Shader Model 4.0. that would fall back to
R600.

it makes sense that Xbox 2 is DX10 / DirectX Next compliant, and that
might not be possible with R500.

an R600-based Xbox 2 should also be stronger technological competition
for PS3 :)

I just can't sleep at night for thinking about the specs of the next XBOX,
especailly the video card. I read and read and read - no amount of XBOX
spec speculation is enough for me - and I spread it everywhere I can.

Obviously your present contribution to the progress of the human race
is minimal. Please do something more useful.

Yes, but apparently not very well done, if some don't get it at all and
others have to ask ;-)
