quotation marks problem

How do I get rid of << and >> quotation marks? I can't get any others when
writing a text, but I get " in word command fields, (like in "find and
replace" fonction window, or here! But NOT when writing in WORD, and none of
the Auto format options for replacing them works because I can't write << or

The chevrons indicate that Word thinks you're writing in French. See
