The problem is that developers need to be able to quickly email the
graphical error message that they sometimes get. They can do it by
selecting the window, then ALT PrintScreen, then paste the clipboard
contents into a a graphics program, save the file and then email the
file. But this takes them too long they say. If they are using
thunderbird (most aren't :( ) they could paste it directly into an email
and then email it.

What I would like is a program that makes this a lot simpler to do
rather than the developers printing out a huge dark window just to show
us a simple error message. It would be good if the program used the
existing email client as this is already set up for the mail server and
address book.

MS Paint does this, but it doesn't compress the file and thus you get a
large bmp file.

Would MWSnap work? http://www.mirekw.com/winfreeware/mwsnap.html

It's a simple, non-installing program that lets you take cropped
screen-grabs, which you can save as a .jpg (or .gif/.bmp./tif, for that
matter).

If it was saved to, say, the desktop, it'd be a simple thing to right-
click the .jpg and send it via e-mail.

Why don't use MWSnap (http://www.mirekw.com/winfreeware/mwsnap.html)
in conjunction with AutoMailer (http://www.duodata.de/automailer/)?

Kindly regards.

Perhaps another approach would be a utility that would allow you to
scrape the text from the "graphical" error message, which could then be
pasted easily into an email.

TextGrabber

CopyText

or Google this group for a link to Scraper

You could paste directly into Irfanview, Save As..., Send By Email
All from within Irfanview.
