QUICKEN MISSING FROM VISTA

I've installed Vista and it appears Quicken is gone. Shouldn't the base
programs contained in XP still be avail in Vista?

I assume this was an upgrade from XP to Vista? Quicken is not a built in
program that comes with Vista, its developed and sold by a Company named
Intuit. If you are talking about missing application, check C:\Program
Files\Quicken folder.

Quicken is not part of Vista or XP. It is produced by Intuit and has to be
purchased separately

Quicken is a Microsoft product and has *never* been included with any
version of Windows.

Hi, Lenny.

HOW did you install Vista? And is it 32-bit or 64-bit - and the same
question for WinXP?

Quicken is from Intuit, not from Microsoft. It never was a part of any
version of Windows. SOME computer sellers may have included Quicken in a
bundle with a new computer, but that is not the norm. Normally, we have to
buy Quicken separately and install it in either WinXP or Vista.

If you had bought and installed Quicken in your WinXP, and then you upgraded
to Vista, then Vista Setup MIGHT have migrated to Quicken. But upgrades to
Vista have encountered problems so often that most users end up doing a
"clean install". This, of course, requires that Quicken be reinstalled in
Vista after Vista itself is installed.

If you tell us more about your computer and its history, we might be able to
give you a better answer.

If you did a "clean install" of Vista, then no programs will be available,
except those that are part of Vista (e.g., notepad, internet explorer, some
small games), since a clean install means (1) format=erase=destroy, then
(2) install Vista..

If you did an upgrade from XP, then all programs should still be on the hard
drive, but some of them will not work.

To detemrine whether Quicken is still present, look under C:\Program
Files\... for something like Quicken (or Intuit, the makers of Quicken). If
present, but not working, check the Intuit website for requirements, such as
supported operating systems, availability of patches, etc, etc.

Do not be surprised if you find that you need to upgrade Quicken to work
under Vista.

Why Would Microsoft Include Quicken (Which Was Created By Intuit) In
Microsoft Windows Vista RTM, When They Have Their Own Program Called
Microsoft Money 2008 (Which Is Also Not Included In Windows Vista RTM), Just
FYI. Quicken Was Most Likely Put There By Your OEM (HP), Just FYI.

You Would Be Surprised How Much Junk Software OEM's Like Dell, HP, And
Gateway Put On Your OEM Computer Online Order's, Just FYI.

P.S. By The Way, You Might Want To Eliminate That Windows Vista Service Pack
One Build Number 275 Signature As It Is Currently Under An NDA, Just FYI.

Because, Just FYI, Microsoft just wants to annoy you. Just FYI. You sure
are annoying. Just FYI. Have issues with your keyboard? Just FYI.

You would be surprised how much junk is posted by Kevin. Just FYI. Better
to have HP, Dell, and Gateway post junk. Just FYI.

Don't worry about eliminating any service pack. Just FYI. Just FYI.

Tagging on a little "Oops" post doesn't make up for your intolerable
transgression. Please think before you post or don't post AT ALL! You have
been warned, pal ( when you read 'pal', read it imagining a cross tone of
voice .. not one indicating friendship of any sort).

It's doubly annoying inasmuch as neither Quicken nor MS Money will work
under Linux. The Ubangi crowd has its own financial program called
"Calculator."

Kevin;
I am sure he knows as well as many here know of the wide variety of
junk installed by the OEMs.
However that is not the point.

The point is Quicken is not a Microsoft product and Microsoft has
never included Quicken with any version of Windows.

The Ubangi crowd has spokes people like Alias and Kevin ! Need I say more?
Just FYI :-)

It says as it makes an intolerable transgression.

I suspect you may have purchased a computer from a vendor who includes
Quicken and other trialware with the purchase. That's all gone when
you reformat and install any OS.

You may be able to get it back from the recovery CD or DVD set you
created before you installed Vista.... er, you DID make the recovery
CD/DVDs didn't you?

If Quicken wasn't preinstalled on your computer and you purchased the
CD and installed it yourself just reinstall it.

The scary thing is he really doesn't know. The only thing he knows is the
Republican Right Wing Waco Bible. I think the first letter of each word is
capitalized in it. Just FYI.

The point is Kevin seriously needs professional help, but to get a doctor to
step up to the plate, well, just might not happen.

Lord have mercy on us all. Just FYI.
