I upgraded my computer from ME (which was on when i bought it) to XP. My comp
is running excessively slow even after defrag, adding RAM to 640 MB (from
128), and checking for virus/spyware. I have backed up my HD and want to
perform a quick restore (Compaq), but i am not sure if it will take me back
to my ME factory state safely, at which time i plan to re-upgrade to XP. How
does this work?

Steve,

QuickRestore will restore to the factory configuration, which in your case is Windows ME. You'll need to upgrade to XP later. However, the best option is to contact Compaq/HP Tech support on this matter.
