Hi everyone, i have a Telewest Broadband Cable Modem, and i have two options
to connect this to my computer, USB and Ethernet,

Would i be able to connect my computer to it with USB, and then connect my
roommates computer to it using Ethernet? - And have them both using the modem
at the same time?

I have another friend who does this in his home, but he has a DSL modem
instead.

All help welcome, thank you!

No. Your friend probably has a combination modem/router with additional
ethernet ports for other computers; normally these combo modem/routers
will have 4 ports.

You need to buy a router to attach to your cable modem with ethernet
cable. If you can use ethernet, forget about the usb port on the modem.
Then you will connect your computers to the router with ethernet cable.
