quick launch disappears everytime I reboot

My quick launch buttons always disappear when I shut down or restart. I can
always manually get them back by going to settings and "show quick launch"
but this gets irritating having to do it everytime I reboot. any suggestions?

Verify and fix (if necessary) the Userinit registry value:

See "Phase - II" in the above article. Take extreme care while fixing the userinit value, as entering an incorrect path will prevent you from logging on to Windows.
