quick launch default of 3 icons to 4 icons?

hi, I take it it is a registry entry to change the quicklaunch menu from 3
default shown icons, I'd like to change that to 4, so that when the systray
expands, 4 icons slides along with the expansion instead of 3?

I have 26 in my quick launch area, and 14 in my systray.

Never touched the registry.

You can do it.

Just drag what you want to the QuickLaunch bar.

sorry. I don't mean adding stuff to the tool bar, but adjusting how many
icons are displayed by default.

when the systray expands from right to left, the "right aligned" quicklaunch
toolbar will shift right to left as well. it always keeps 3 icons displayed
as the quicklaunch toolbar shrinks.

what I want to do is ensure 4 icons are kept displayed instead of the
default 3. I want to change the toolbar behaviour.

So you moved the quick launch to the right side next to the notification
area (that's what it's called). Why not just leave it on the left side of
the taskbar, next to start? In any event, sorry I don't know how to do what
you're asking. Maybe someone else will jump in here.

Unlock the toolbar, set things the way you want them, lock it.

yes, I am way ahead of you. the setting I want can not be changed through
any UI. I am hoping some one knows the registry settings to adjust.

My guess is that you're the only one here who is that obsessed with
their toolbar to have looked that deeply into it.

Not quite sure I understand what the problem is. . . I have four icons
displayed permanently in my Quick Launch bar. I have mine on the left of
the Taskbar, but the Quick Launch doesn't "shrink" and hide any icons as
the Taskbar fills up with running programs.

It might be a bit hard to see, depending on what theme you are using,
but there should be a faint vertical line just a little past the last
icon (or if one or more icons is hidden, past the little chevron). Hover
your mouse cursor over this and it should change to a double-headed
arrow, then you can drag the QL bar to the size you want so all icons
are shown.

As I understand it he dragged the QL bar to the far right against the
notification area chevrons, and when those are expanded it shows only 3
icons in the QL. Coure I could be wrong in this description.

I have a few toolbars activated with the taskbar unlocked. all are right
aligned so my program tabs can all be left aligned.

it surprises me that all who frequent this groups aren't as obsessed with XP
as to know their favourite product inside out. are we here to share the love
and nothing but the love?

Ok, sorry I don't know how to change that or where it's set in the registry.

Most of us have lives away from the keyboard.
