Quick Launch area is shrunk

There used to be three icons in the Quick Launch area of the task bar
but for some reason there are now only two and the missing one is in the
hidden area where there are other hidden icons.

It appears that the space for the quick launch icons are shown has been
shortened for some reason. How can I recover the original space where
three icons can reside.

Right click the Taskbar and click Lock the Taskbar to unlock it. You will
see a separator appear between the empty space and where the quick launch
ends, place your mouse pointer on the separator and drag to your right to
resize the Quicklaunch to reveal additional shortcuts.

Right-click on the taskbar and untick "Lock taskbar". Resize your quick
launch area by dragging the dotted line, then lock the taskbar again.

You should be able to right click the task bar, unselect "lock taskbar",
and resize the quicklaunch portion. Then you can right click again,
and select "lock taskbar". You can also right click the items you don't
want in the quick launch (if any) and delete them.

Question: you're the second one to suggest locking the taskbar after
unlocking it, why? Clicking on unlock the taskbar is one of the very
first things I do after installing an OS, why would you want it locked?

I can't answer on Dustin Harper's behalf, but IMHO this is really a matter
of taste, although I recommend keeping the taskbar locked, so that the user
avoids inadvertently resizing or repositioning it.

Dustin,
Thanks for your response. That solved my problem.
I must have inadvertently resized the area as stated in the post by
Charlie42.
