Quick filters for My Computer/Windows Explorer

There should be buttons/icons somewhere on the window that allow you to
filter the documents listed in a folder to a certain file type. This would
take it one step beyond arranging by file type.

Example. My documents folder has 1000 docs in it but I only want to search
through the 200 that are word files. I would do a single click on a Word
Icon on the Left which filters the field down to only word files.

What do you think?

Hi Luis -

If you want to be able to do this in a Windows Explorer window, you would be
better off suggesting it in the Windows newsgroup. The Open & Save As dialog
boxes in Word already do this automatically (most programs do only look fr
files of their own type) unless you change the File Type at the bottom of the
window, but Word can't just arbitrarily reach out and modify the operating
system.
