How did you become so knowledgable with Access? Did you read or take
courses? And what would be a good source of learning for someone just
starting out with Access?

I've known Doug for years and can tell you that he's extremely
knowledgeable. I thought at first you were also speaking about John Vinson,
also a very knowledgeable source.

Their knowledge comes from many years of working with the product and by
reading just about everything they could get their hands on. Some of the
good authors you may want to look up are:

John L. Viescas
F.Scott Barker
Ken Getz

for basic database design, have a look at books by:

Michael J. Hernandez, Steven Roman, and Rebecca Riordon

As Arvin said, it comes from using the product. I did take some courses
initially, but to be honest, they weren't very good (and had I been more
savvy at the time, I would have asked for my money back).

As to good sources for learning, Jeff Conrad often posts lists of good
