Questions about searches, old pages & reindirected pages

I did a search on msn and found some old files that I had on my webpage when
I used publisher back in July of last year.

If you follow the link www.outdoorupdate.com/index_files/Page427.htm you'll
find a 404 page, if you follow a hyperlink named cached next to the above
you'll find my old web site.

This site hasn't been on my server since last September or October.

My questions are

Is this anything to worry about?
I'm worried about searches going to the wrong place.

If I place a redirected page here will it have to stay on the host forever?

Some search engines cache old pages, even when you have deleted them. You
have no control.
