Hi, On word if you type that a smiley face appears in it's place, could
anyone tell me if there is any other symbols??

This is simply an AutoCorrect entry. Go to Tools > AutoCorrect to see the
default list. You can set up any others you like -- go to Insert > Symbol
and look at the Symbol, Wingdings, Webdings and any other non-text fonts for
other symbols you could use.
