Question regarding employer laptop

Like many people, I take my employer-issued laptop home with me, and I
connect it to work via VPN or Outlook Server, so there is no
expectation of privacy there since everything going in and out is
probably logged.

Now, if I switch the laptop to my own home DSL connection, would my
employer still know what I am doing with my laptop?

Thanks for any insight.

Yes, because each time you visit an Internet site you leave
a little trace on your hard disk.

Depends on what spyware, your employery has installed on your laptop.

Think about this, you pickup some malware from your surfing from home
on works laptop and infect work's filesystem or other employee's
systems when you are on work's network.

One word, two syllables. Keylogger.

Marko.

If it is a Work Laptop then I will respect the trust the Employer given or
have in you to let you take the Laptop to the House, and not putting the
Business in Risk or the info on that HDD.
Yes it easy for us or you because we don't pay the money to maintain the
Work network so it is a piece of fun yeah go for it and infect the whole
network with worm and spywares and let the hackers in?.
Please stop think and make up your mind if it is your business do you
need/want someone like you doing this (even the employer that bad or i don't
like him/her), if it yes then go for it we will not be able to change your
mind.
If no then you can approach the IT Admin and see if it is possible or not,
if it is then you are in the right and treat it as your's with respect and
care!.
HTH.

nass

For all you know, it might have a keylogger, with spyware that
periodically "phones home." And tells your employer what you
have been doing. Regardless of whether you are using their Net
connection or not.
