Question on Windows accessing floppy drive during shutdown and startup

The floppy disk drive is being accessed during startup and shutdown for an
unknown reason. I've done a selective startup with all services and startup
items disabled as well as a safe-mode boot but the drive light still comes
on.

(I'm running Windows XP Home and it's current with updates)

Does anyone have any ideas to get rid of this problem?

I think this is a feature in Norton Antivirus. Go to the preferences screen
and you should be able to disable floppy drive scan at startup and shutdown
there.

I'm not running Norton Antivirus. In, addition I disabled all startup tasks
and all services.

Microsoft Indexing service and/or Office Fast Find feature may be turned
on??

Run an anti-spyware software to check for spyware utilities.

Of course it is. This is the way the machine starts and
shuts down. Nothing to worry about. In the case of
starting it is because the BIOS is configured to use the
floppy as one of the boot options so it checks
automatically to see if there is any media in any of the
drives(CD or Floppy). Have fun.

The floppy check and floppy boot device are both disabled in the BIOS.

The Indexing service is off. I do not have Office. Also, I did a selective
startup with all services disabled and all startup items disabled.
