This question regards the "Thumbnail views" used to see thumbnails in
folders containing photographs.

Is there any way to add Thumbnail support for an image file type that is
not supported natively?

Specifically, I have quite a few folders of *.PCD images (Kodak
Photo-CD). PCD is not natively supported for Thumbnail images, for for
the Windows photo and fax viewer. But it's not THAT obscure, Corel
supports it (in both Corel Draw and Corel Photopaint), Adobe supports it
(in Photoshop and Photoshop elements) and even Microsoft Word supports
it in documents (not installed by default, but a filter is available).

So the question is can I somehow add thumbnail support for folders
containing *.PCD files? And if so, how?

Hi Barry:

Does .PCD have some advantage for you? Would it be a burden to convert all
your pics to JPG?

It would be a substantial amount of work to convert them all. There are
thousands of images. They can be converted, but I don't have an easy,
quick batch way of doing all of them, nor do I necessarily want to do
that. [There are dozens of CDs with about 100 photos each.]

I'd much rather have thumbnail support for PCD formatted files. And,
beyond my specific situation, there is the more general question of the
extensibility of thumbnail viewing support.
