hi,

i have a question on pivottables.

i have a column in my database, which has *some* values beginning wit
"duplicate" (such as, duplicate of receivable, duplicate as payabl
etc...).

i have created a pivottable out of this database. this column is use
in that pivottable. i would like to be able to combine all the value
that begin with "duplicate" in the pivottable. currently, both thes
values appear separately.

is there a way to do this in the pivottable itself? or do i have to us
a helper column in the database? if so, how? i tried to use a helpe
column, which displayed true or false depending on whether the valu
contained the string "duplicate". but i was not able to figure out ho
to use this in the pivottable.

please help.

thanks,

mac

This is possible in the pivot table.
Make the column in question be the first one, and sort it
in alphabetical order. Highlite the "duplicate" rows and
right mouse click and select "group and outline", then -
"group" the rows, you will see a new named item
called "group 1", change this text to what ever you want.

Good luck.

Mike
