Someone set up Outlook Express for a friend of mine so he has to double
click on the email in order to open it (as a safety measure against spam).

View>Layout Unclick Show Preview Pane.

You can also put the Preview Pane button on the toolbar. Right click
on the Toolbar>Customize>Add the PP button.
