Question on connecting a PS3

Seriously considering a PS3 if I could connect it to my computers Monitor.

Running a Dell XPS 600 with the Dell 20 Inch flat panel monitor and Vista 64
bit Home Premium dual booting with WinXP SP2 Media Center 2005.

Want experienced and serious replies as the cost of a PS3 is not to be taken
lightly.

Explored the information and am afraid it is beyond my nearly 80 year brain
cell information.

Looks like a simple plug ad play is not practically practicable.

Then also it requires the Media 11 which leaves me wondering if the
Playstation 3 would only be viewable on the Win Media screen and not
utilizing the entire monitor screen view.
