I use the "Automatic Formatting" feature of Outlook 2003 to color-code
e-mail messages sent to and from various sources, but I am running into an
issue; the "displayed" name does not always match the actual e-mail address
for a given user.
For example - let's assume that user John Smith has been added to my
contacts list as follows:
Full Name: John Smith
File As / Display Name: Smith, John
E-mail address: (e-mail address removed)
Let's also assume that I setup an auto-format rule to color-code messages
sent to John based on this information - so far so good. Now - let's assume
that John sends me an e-mail message that I wish to reply to - I'm not
addressing the message myself, just replying to his existing message. The
message from John may have a display name that is significantly different
(such as Johnny) than my previously created auto-formatting rule.
Now to my question - does anyone know of a way to setup an auto-format rule
that looks for the underlying e-mail address rather than the displayed name
in Outlook 2003?
As it is, I have to keep adding additional conditions to handle the various
conditions that user John Smith might use when sending messages to me.
Any assistance you can provide is appreciated.
