question. apostrophe, brackets show are french symbols

when I type question, bracket or apostropy I get the french symbol acute over
an e, grave, or the ?spanish 'c'. It's not happening here, or in Word.

You can enter symbols like the copyright or trademark symbol by holding down
the Alt key on your keyboard and typing in numbers using your numeric keypad
(IT WON'T WORK WITHOUT the numeric keypad). For example, holding down the Alt
key and keying in 0169, (and then releasing the Alt key) will produce the
copyright symbol. Here's a list of a few of these:
Alt + 0169 © (copyright symbol)
Alt + 0174 ® (register mark)
Alt + 0153 â„¢ (trademark)
Alt + 0233 é (accented e)

If you are looking through a font for a particular symbol, you can use the
old Windows CharMap utility to browse through a font's characters. Click on
the Windows Start menu, select run, and type in CharMap.

Thisi is more a question about Windows than about Access, the database
product that's part of Office Professional and the focus of this particular
newsgroups.

That having been said, though, is your version of Windows set up for the
same physical keyboard you're using? Assuming you're using Windows XP, go to
the Control Panel and look at the Regional and Language Options applet.
Click on the Details button on the Languages tab. Does the keyboard
information make sense?
