Question about using Contact Management Template for Access 2003.

Would somebody be kind enough to explain to me how I can use the Contact
Template to make calls with lists that I import from excel? I see that you
can add one record at a time, but since I have A LOT of leads in the excess
of thousands, that will take forever and simply won't do. The template I'm
talking about is located here
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/workessentials/TC010178391033.aspx

I figured out how to import an excel list into Access and was able to add on
the dial icon so I can just click the number and then the dial button to make
a call instead of having to manually dial the numbers. Do I need some type
of special phone hooked up to my computer to make these calls or will my
standard Platronics headset be sufficient? I use a Dell Inspiron E1505
computer and it has a modem and wireless card.

Is it also possible to link the access database that was created from an
excel file so that when I update a field in the access file it automatically
updates the excel spreadsheet? I saw that I can link the the information from
excel to access, but nice vice versa. I appreciate your time and help.

You will need a modem in your computer and your phone will need to be routed
from the wall oulet through the modem and into the phone. That will allow
the modem to do the dialing for you.

This capability was disabled because of a lawsuit Microsoft lost. There are
only two methods the update an excel spreadsheet from Access. One is with
the TransferSpreadsheet. The other is with Automation. That is where you
create an instance of Excel using VBA in Access and manipulate the
spreadsheet through the Excel object model. The latter is not a trivial
taks. You probably want to start with a periodic update using the
transferspreadsheet.

Hi Dave,
I appreciate the time you took to answer my questions, but there was one
question that was not answered. Hopefully you can answer one final question
for me.

The template I downloaded that I mentioned in the previous response is great
and has a lot of things that I can change to suit my business needs. What is
doesn't provide me to look at every individual record that I upload because
it appears I have to manually manually input every contact, which will a very
long time. I mainly want to use Access as a dialer for my telemarketing
efforts and think that it accomplishes that goal without too much headache
compared to other programs and methods I have used. I look forward to your
response or anybody else who would like to chime in.

Sorry, J.R.
I am not familiar with the template you downloaded nor do I have experience
loading Outlook data into Access.
I would suggest you post a question in the External Data group asking for
assistance importing Outlook Contact Info into Access.

Good Luck
