Question about tranferring a file to CD

D

Dudley Henriques

I'm using the built in burn program in XP as my means of transferring files
and folders to CD's for simple back up.Everything works fine and no issues,
but a question please?
Sometimes when I go to transfer a folder or a file, I get an intercept
window telling me that certain things on the file or folder will be lost if
I transfer it to the CD, but it plainly states that it won't affect the file
or folder in any way.
Can someone tell me if these files and folders are ok, and the why's and
what's about this procedure? I'd appreciate knowing more about it.
My main concern is whether or not these transferred data are REALLY ok????
Thanks much,
Dudley

Hi Dudley,

The warning messages occur most likely to let you know that your view and
custom folder settings are not being copied along with the data. This is
because the files containing this information for each folder, thumbs.db and
desktop.ini, are not being copied with the data. They shouldn't be, this is
normal and should not affect the CD burning process or your ability to later
retrieve the information.
