Question about IZArc

I'm using IZArc 3.5 beta 3. I tried to open a CAB file with it, but it
did not show me the contents of the CAB file. Instead it showed me the
directory where the CAB file was located. It showed me exactly what my
Windows Explorer showed me! What I want to do is to replace a file in
the CAB file with a newer version of the file. Is this possible using
IZArc? If not, how can I do this?

Thanks.

I use beta 2. Have you remembered to click on the directory/folder
icon to see if the contents appear?

Or maybe the CAB is corrupt? if you can't see the contents by
clicking, you might download a CAB viewer. If another app can't view
it, that's a pretty good sign the file is really corrupt.

I think so, if you can extract the contents. The way I would do it is:
extract the contents, replace the the file you want in the extracted
folder, and create a new CAB file with the new contents of that
folder. (That's not the only way in IZArc, but that's easy enough for
me.)

And, in case you're not familiar with creating new archives in IZArc,
the Help file is good and may be enough to get you going.

This happens when a file is corrupted or in a "too new"-format.

There are 2 CAB files -- data1.cab and data2.cab -- apparently this means they are InstallShield CAB files, which are a different structure than Microsoft CAB files. I guess IZArc cannot handle InstallShield CAB files?

Apparently. Maybe another free zipper like tugzip or zipgenius will work:
