Question about defragment

What does this means??
"some files on this volume could not be defragmented"? This is from my
daughter's computer, hers is Window XP. I've tried to defragged her
computer and this message showed up. How or what can I do about it?

Not a lot. And what has this to do with VISTA MAIL?
