Quesiton about Canon CanoScan 4200F

Hi

I have just bought a Canon CanoScan 4200 f, and I have
had very good results with it.

This one:
http://www.canon.ca/english/index-products.asp?lng=en&prodid=672&sgid=21&gid=2&ovr=1

BUT, there is something that I hope is possible to do....

I think the dust-reduktion-software is very effective, when
it is set at its highest setting. I have examined the results
very closely, and I just can't see, that my photos are
less sharp or anything else after I have run the
dust-reduktion-software - but the dust is gone!! :).
I think that is VERY impressive.

But my question..... I hope it is possible to run
this software in multi-scanning too. You know - when
you scan mulitible photos at the same time and the
software saves them as individual files. But I can't
figure out how to do that!!! Is it possible?

One more thing. Is it possible to take of the glass
to clean it on both sides? How?

Thanks

Kent.

The 8400F can make multiple scans. I do not know if the 4200F can also.

This from the help for the 8400F:
Multi-Crop/Platen

The scanner automatically detects multiple items placed on the
document glass of the scanner and reproduces the corresponding number of
image files. If an item is slightly askew (less than a 10 degree tilt), then
the image is automatically straightened.
This function is activated after previewing an image. Click the
[Apply] button to take effect.

[Apply] Button

When multiple items are placed on the document glass of the scanner,
the corresponding number of image files are automatically cropped one-by-one
during scanning.
You can also set it to perform the final scan on some particular
images among all cropped images.
To do this, deselect the cropping frame from the unwanted images by
selecting the image and typing the [Delete] key.

You can also deselect the cropping frame by right-clicking inside the
image and selecting [Delete] from the pop-up menu.

Positioning Items on the Scanner

Please pay attention to the following points when positioning items on
the document glass of the scanner.

- Leave at least 1 cm (1/2 in.) between items.
- Leave at least 1 cm (1/2 in.) between the items and the document
glass's sides and back edge.
- Leave at least 1 cm (1/2 in.) between the items and the document
glass's front edge.
- A maximum of 10 items can be scanned at once.
- If an item is slightly crooked on the platen-within 10 degrees of
true-the image is automatically straightened.

If the 4200F is built similar to the 8400F, then the scanner cleaning page I
have may help. I do show how to take the 8400F apart to clean the glass and
the mirrors.
