In the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties, under Notification area, there is
a sliding double arrow to hide and show icons. This is missing after the the
System had hung once. How can I retrieve it?

Right click the Task bar
Click Properties
Place check by "Hide inactive icons"
Click OK and follow prompts.

Sorry it does NOT still appear. I had checked as suggested and then clicked
Apply and then OK.
No luck! Any other ideas?

The arrow will appear once Windows determines there are now icons that
should be hidden.
It takes time.
I am unsure whether it takes hours or even days.

Hi,

For some users, setting the very first icon to Always Hide, restores the
arrow/chevron. Note: It does take time for it to become effective.
