This is an XP security setting, the password would be that of a user you set
up in XP that is the same user/name as in the 98 machine. If you disable
"Simple File Sharing" in XP Pro you can not use a null password, which isn't
advisable anyway. In order to disable SFS in XP Home you have to enter Safe
Mode w/administrative rights. However if you so wish:

When I try to do the default C$, etc it says it can't find it.
\\computername\C$
or
\\computername\sharename
doesn't work. Does Windows 98SE need additional updated Windows Networking
protocols?
