Query Report Issue

D

dan.cawthorne

I Have A Form That Runs a Query for example If a user types in a Job
Number ie M368A with in the parameter box that appears it lists all the
companys that have been sent an enquiry to price works, for that
project within the form, now i created a Report to print all the
results, But when i click print button or view report button which i
created using the command button wizard - Its Brings Up the Paramenter
box again, is there away of just printing all the results which have
all ready been filtered?

Dan,
Try running the just the query itself, without the report.
Do you get just one parameter request?

Now try running the report. Get 2 prompts now?

Then most probably there is a field somewhere in your report that is spelled slightly
different than the query parameter, so Access prompts for that.

I'm assuming the latter...
That parameter could be on the report, or in a subreport, or quite often, in a
concatenation or calculation in a field...so you'll have to dig in and find it.
Tip:
Make a copy of your report for safe keeping, and using a test copy, go into report
design mode. Start deleting items from the report until it runs without a parameter
prompt. That last delete probably contains the parameter.

Hi AI

Thanks for getting back to my Post,

The query Works Perectly Fine, as i have all the fields showing what i
want, but in the filed Name(tender) I have this typed in the criteria =
[TYPE TENDER NO]

so when the query is run, i have to do is type the tender number in in
the parameter box and it shows all the companys which i want and
working fine,

So then i created a form, to display all these results, so when i click
on the view mode within the form, the parameter box appears as
expected. once i type in the tender number the form will show all
records with that number,

as there can be up to 200 companies pricin for per tender, i need a
report to show the all companys, which i created using the report
wizard showing 2 records per page, but cause i created the report from
the query and not the form, it prompts the parament box again, and i
dont if i can create a report from the form that has just got the
results from query?

Well, when you supply the query a parameter, there should be no need to also enter the
parameter for the report itself, unless... something in the form doesn't realize the
parameter value from the main query.
As I said, "usually" it's something on the report that refres to the pararmeter like
[ENTER TENDER NO] (2 spaces between Enter and Tender)

Do you have any subreports on this report?
Do any of the queries behind the subs have the same parameter in it. (or ANY
parameters at all)
That would cause such a problem as a "double parameter" prompt.

Let's try to shake that out completely. There are ways, that if it ran from the form
OK, we can still use the form as the "parameter" provider, rather than the query. But I'd
rather we try to solve this the way you have it now.

If no luck...
You could send me just the objects you need to do the report (tables, queries, etc..),
zip the mdb, and I'll take a look at it. Send via my web site, and put "Newsgroup" in the
Subject. (Also post back here when sent)

Dan,
I happened to re-read my post. I may have used the term "form" in there when I meant
to say report, so please beware.
The post only dealt with the parameter problem between your query and your report.

Hope that helps.

Hello AI,

Ive zipped my databe up, as it is,

i tried created a new database and and imported tables and forms and
query in, but it was just causing problems.

so here's the complete thing,

You may think ive gone ott with forms and querys, but im to hot with
macros.

Any Way, If Click on The form_MAINMENU

And then click on the button Search by Tender Number. the parameter box
will pop up, Type in M386A
and a few results will be returned.

Now I can scroll through these, but when i click the buttom Print All -
Which is a Preview Report it asks for me to retype the M386A then when
this is done the report is shown.

Ps How do I attach Me database here?

Dan,
Got your file, fixed it, and sent it back to your sending email address..
As a rule, the Access newsgroups discorage allow attachments, so you usually wait until
the responder makes arrangements with you to send.
