Query ends in error

I am running Access 2003 on Windows XP. I've been told that that is my
problem but want to know if there is a patch or upgrade I can use to make my
queries work.

I use queries to get to information on a DB. One of the fields is a date
field. Whenever I set up my query to try to limit my search for transactions
in a date range, or if I put any date, it ends in an error, asks if I want to
fix my DB and then gives me that option to send and error report.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Does the Query run fine without criteria?
