Has anyone had this problem - I captured my footage as always through
firewire. I edited the project last night, but today when I tried to
retrieve the avi, my computer doesn't recognize it. G-spot says it
is :DV (IEC 61834), which is called the "Quasar Codec" or something.
I don't know why this has happened. All of my equipment is the same
as I have always used.

Any ideas if this is an XP issue or something?

You should ask this question in the USENET newsgroup rec.video.desktop .

As I understand it, AVI is a container format. DV can be stored
inside it. Perhaps what you're looking at, is the originally
captured video, now stored in an AVI container ? Pull it back into
your editor, and try exporting it in some other format.

Thank you for the answer - the issue is the my NLE won't even open
the file anymore. Not one editor or converter can open the file for
some reason...
