please help, I worked really hard securing every part of my computer, being a
novice I was quite proud that I had bounced back from a win 32 virus , this
took me months to remove completely, everything had stopped, printer, webcam
and all of my workings. I made sure that every aspect was covered ,
firewall, anti spyware, antispam, popups, active monitor on desktop alerting me
if i dropped below 100%. Maybe I got cocky and thought that I was invincible.
A rogue security program got me , by disguising itself in a genuine windows
certificate box , when clivked as approved it told me I was infected with
spyware and to up my subscription to PESTTRAP, it has taken me ages to get
rid of this,It kept returning ,but has left me with loads of probs, I spy
password cracker,Ie tray hijacker, loads of registry workings are in
quarantine with these. PLEASE would somebody have a look at a copy of
this, and tell me a quicker fix, I dont think I can go through this again .Int
ex 6 winxp home, thanks in advance.

You'll have to be more careful on the internet. Remember to stay away from
untrusted/unknown websites or email that try to get you to download
something. I know that this is impossible to avoid 100% of the time, but only
download files/accept certificates that are said to be "Genuine MS Windows"
from only the microsoft web site.

Now to the problem: Spyware is a pain in the butt. You should run multiple
spyware detection programs about once a week. Only one spyware program won't
do it. There isn't just a single one that finds all spyware. To be fairly
well covered you can use these:

A) Ad-Aware: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
B) Spybot S&D: http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html
C) Windows Defender:
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

If these programs aren't able to get rid of some really nasty (spy/mal)ware
on your computer then do a google search on the name of the (spy/mal)ware and
you should be able to find a program that will forcibly remove the infected
file(s).

There are plenty of other free programs that you can find (i.e. go to
download.com and go into the spyware section) that should take care of any
kind of (spy/mal)ware that work (in my opinion) just a well as programs that
you would pay for.
