Quality of Media Player burnt Music CD's

For my own use I compile my own music CD's by copying
selections from my extensive 'commercial' CD collection
(all kept in top quality).

My PC has a AOPEN CD-R Driver and all music is written by
either Windows Media Player (using XP) at the lowest
possible speeds on only Imation Music Disks.

My problem is this:

Some disks will play repeatedly problem free. Others, (far
too many) will play intermittently. Some will not play at
all. Some play some days for part of the time and on other
days for all of the time! Some will play for several
tracks and then stop or until the sound 'degenerates to an
un-listenable stage!

I am fastidious with the handling of these disks. No dust,
no scratches and all only played on top quality CD
players, both at home and in my car. Playing them on other
people's players produces the same intermittent results!

I am going mad with frustration with this problem.

Do others have this problem? What is wrong?

If you are that "fastidious" about copying/using your
disks, I highly recommend you get yourself a commercial
copying program such as Roxio's Easy CD Creator or Nero
Burning. "Poste Haste"! WMP has many bugs when it comes
to different types/brands of CDs for copying.

I haven't used Windows Media Player (I prefer to use other
software like Nero or Roxio for burning CDs) so maybe there
is something dodgy with your Windows Media Player. Have you
tried re-installing it? If you haven't try that, then try
to burn a compilation and see if that plays normally.

If, after this, you continue to have problems, then it
seems to me that there is a problem with your CD burner
itself. You may need to replace it.
