Quality of current HP Indigo Digital Press compared to high-end consumer inkjet printer

Hello everybody out there,
I would like to print a document with around 150 pages containing around 50
photos next to the normal text.
I have an offer for printing 5 copies of it with a HP Indigo digital press.
The quality of the colors is very important for me.
However, one of my friends has offered me to print the same document with a
high-end consumer inkjet printer for the same price.
How is the quality of the current HP Indigo Digital Presses compared to the
one of high-end consumer inkjet printers?
Thanks in advance,
Julia

Thanks for your answer. Getting test pages from the consumer printer is
no problem. I even have some sample pages from the HP Indigo digital
press. But these samples are not representative for my pictures.
Moreover, the commercial supplier owning the digital press doesn't print
just three or four pages with my pictures in order to hear from me that
I will use another printer with a better quality.
Commercial supplier with larger digital presses in most cases only print
for you when you guarantee to take a minimal amount of let's say 1000 pages.
