qttask.exe error

David

Five times now in the past two weeks (irregularly--not
every time, started in mid-December) when I start up XP
Home, as soon as the desktop is completely loaded I get
the following error message with a different ID each time:

ID: 6fc, 71c, 714 (I've only recorded three of the ID
numbers)
: qttask.exe - No Disk
There is no disk in the drive. Please insert disk into
drive \Device\Harddisk1\DR2

Choices for action are: "Cancel", "Try Again",
and "Continue".

Selecting "Try Again" does nothing and the error message
remains on the screen. Selecting either "Cancel"
or "Continue" removes the error message and the computer
runs normally.

Does anyone have any experience with this kind of error?
How do I get this message to stop showing up? There
doesn't seem to be any problem with the hard drive.

Thanks, David

Click START RUN and type...

msconfig <enter>

Click the Start Up tab...
If there is a QTTASK entry shown, UNcheck it. Then reboot.

If a warning prompt appears at start up, check its box, then click OK

This has to do with Apple's Quicktime applet. Go here for a read:

Its part of Apple's Quicktime, the best thing to do is to stop it from
loading using MSCONFIG and disable it.
