Hi there,

I´m thinking about purchasing a Canon FS4000US. Does anybody here has
experiences with this model?! Especially with scanning APS?!

Thanks for your help!

Cheers,
Carsten

Hallo Carsten,

empfehlen.

Hi Carsten

I have this scanner. Cant help on the APS side but the scanner is
pretty good image quality, although uncool maximosus in the blacks.
Requires a lot of work to tame the blacks using multiple passes - think
LONG TIME.

It is excruciatingly slow on my AMD2kMhkz / 1 Gig ram...so using it on
APS is a serious bonus...ie, set and forget.

In my case a strip of 35mm tranies @2700dpi for an A4 page [no multiple
passes] takes close to 1/2 hour.

I heare the Nikon 4000 is much faster but I cant confirm this.
Bottom line for me is that i would have another scanner due to the
bui;ldup of blacks and the slow scan speed.

As I said though, the set and forget ability with APS may be the sealer
for you.

I've been using one for just over a year.

Can't help you with APS, since I only scan 35mm.

Using the SCSI interface, it's not all that slow. I expect the other
poster is using the USB interface. The Canon only supports USB 1.1

I'm happy with it. Scanning lousy negative film at 4000dpi, ugh.... the
grain.
