PV-GS19 as webcam?

I have a panasonic PV-GS19 DV camera, and it works fine. When in
webcam mode, Windows XP (SP2) shows the picture in the "scanners &
cameras" wizard, but no webcam software works with it.
I've tried this with both firewire and USB.
In reviews of the camera I've noticed other people saying it works as
a webcam, so what am I doing wrong?
