Putting a theme into a web in Frontpage 2000

I am new to FP 2000. I am having difficulty in applying a theme to a
web. If I use one of the templates there is no problem in applying and
changing themes. If I work from a blank page it just will not accept a
theme.

did you apply the theme to the new page?
...and you can have only 1 theme to the web..but you can select page(s) not to use the theme.

Themes can only be applied in a FP Web (not to single pages not in a FP web)

I am giving up on FP. I have spent hours trying to do things. I have no
problems with the wizards. They are easy but trying to start a web from
scratch is a no no. I have been using Computers for many years but this
has got me beat. I have got some books from the library and they
describe things like adding a theme which just does not happen. Try
opening a blank web, adding three pages in navigation view, going back
to index.htm and adding a theme. It just sits there doing nothing.

I have decided that FP200 is for geeks. Thanks for help guys.

Merryterry,

Don't give up, I too am half crazy trying to follow the books...no I have 5!
None of them seem to speak plain old English. I tried to do the theme thing
as well, but all I get is the background color. I have no clue as to where
the buttons, writing, banner or anything else might be. BUT, don't give up.
Someone on this board will help you. It might take a few days, but you will
get help! Or just keep reading!
Good luck...never give up!

When you use Format Theme (all pages) it actually is doing something
- but you won't "see" the theme till you add content to the page
- and the theme banners / buttons until you apply a nav bar and page banners (say w/ Shared borders)
Instead of an empty web try one of the new web templates that supports themes like the {Personal Web Site)

Suggest you throw away the books and run the tutorials from

A theme is not like a template, you're not gonna see much until you add content,e tc.
