Hi all, first of all I want to apologise if this isn't the right place for this Q, if not maybe someone can give me some direction

Is there some feature in wondows 2000 server that allows application to be pushed (installed) onto windows 2000/ XP clients from the server ? I''m not just talking about Microsoft applications either. We have an upcoming new release of our main CAD program and I'm just looking for an easier way of installing it on our machines

I'd appreciate any advice/ info on the topic

Best regard

sysdiff.exe (Win2000 Resource Kit) is one way to push applications out to
workstations.

Hi Pegasus

Cheers for the reply. Will look into that asap. Looks a bit
user-unfriendly but I haven't looked much at it. Thanks for the
reccomendation.

(ps: do the 2k machines have to be the exact same spec as the "sample" one

I thought that "user-friendly" interfaces were for users, and that
administrators were comfortable in a command-line environment . . .

If you use sysdiff to roll out applications then you need the same OS (e.g.
Win2000) on the target PCs. The hardware can be different.
