'Push' a MS patch to 85 workstations?

Is there a easy way to push the new Sasser security path
from Microsoft out to 85 workstations vs. going around to
each one? I have downloaded the patch itself. Thx in
advance.

My IT department has VNC installed on all our machines. I changed the
password though - so they must at least ask me before tinking. I'm way
ahead of them on patching my system anyway.

I'm using VNC but do not want to have to connect to each
and every workstation to do it. Is there a script command
that I can add to the logon script that would 'push' this
security patch out? And, without the user needing local
admin rights to install it?

Depending on the patch... it might have a silent mode (/s) built into it.
If it does, then edit the network login script to install the patch silently
during user login.

With 85 workstations, it is well worth your while to install an SUS server

Once you get it all configured, hotfixes from now on are a breeze

Care to define what "SUS" is?

Hi

Microsoft Software Update Services (SUS) is a kind of "Windows Update"
server you can set up inside your own network, where you centrally
approve what security updates is to be distributed to the clients.

The clients use Automatic Update to connect to the SUS server and
download and install updates that apply to that computer (note that
there is no Windows Update GUI available).

More here:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/itsolutions/msm/swdist/pmsusog.asp

Note that the current version will only install critical updates and security
rollup packages (SRPs), as well as SP4 for Win2k and SP1 for WinXP.

A new version is in the works (SUS 2.0, renamed to WUS):
http://groups.google.com/[email protected]

SUS needs to be installed on a IIS server. Supports Win2k, WinXP and Win2k3
clients only. SP1 for WinXP and SP3/4 for Win2k installs the WU/SUS client as
default.

Fyi, there is a separate newsgroup for SUS:

microsoft.public.softwareupdatesvcs

interface to access the newsgroups:
