Purging Deleted Items

I need to purge deleted message from my Inbox but have no "Purge Deleted
Messages" option on my Edit menu. What can I do?

I selected all of the files to be deleted -- is that what you mean by the
"folder". And I'm not savvy enough to be sure if it's an imap account. Is
there a way to determine that?

Edit, purge is only for IMAP - otherwise, just hitting delete will remove
the item from the folder and place it in to the deleted folder. Right click
on the deleted folder to empty it... Use Shift+delete to delete items and
skip the deleted folder. Note: you cannot recover items deleted using
shift-delete or after the deleted folder is emptied.

Select just one folder, not items in it -your inbox for example - and if you
have an imap account, the edit, purge menu should be there.
