It is unclear what you meant by that statement. You did not buy MSAS. You
cannot buy MSAS. You will not be able to buy MSAS. It is free and will
remain free. If the free product doesn't do what you want then get
something else you feel is better, or get a more complete battery of
products to use against all the marauders trying to invade your host.

Did you try rebooting Windows into its safe mode to attempt to eradicate
those pests (for those of which aren't simply .txt files for cookies)? Were
they detected by anything OTHER than SpySweeper, like Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D,
PestPatrol (online scan)? Did SpySweeper actually get rid of the pests? If
and when SpySweeper got rid of the pests, did it not incur problems with
other software (i.e., if it was a false positive that was based on existing
files, eradication screws up the other software)? Did you try asking for
help at all (which wasn't here since I see no other posts with your
moniker)?

SpySweeper is not without its false positives, and too hefty a share of
false positives. On trialing several anti-malware products, I found
SpySweeper and PestPatrol to generate way too many false positives. I would
even use their manual eradication instructions and found nothing of what
they described for the pest was on my host was for other software (i.e.,
their detection was erroneous), so I have to wonder what the hell the
products triggered on. I ended up wasting too much time verifying that the
claimed pests were not on my host at all.

Remember that no amount of security and protection software can overcome the
predominate flaw in security: the CRAP user. Don't expect one foot soldier
waving a sword to mow down an attacking army. Make your defending army
larger by implementing more than just one anti-malware scanner (i.e., get
more swords and learn how to use them properly so you don't chop off your
own leg when attempting to wield them).

So your point is that you are foolish and are lost in the wrong newsgroup
but felt compelled to post something even if irrelevant? Be thankful that
your limited requirements regarding critical and important applications are
satisfied within the dearth of software available for your chosen platform.
If you needed an alternate operating system, and with so many that are free,
like [K]ubuntu, Knoppix, or a slew of others (see http://distrowatch.com/)
which function on a cheaper hardware platform, why would you waste money on
the Mac OS?

So Macs can't do newsreaders?
Or are you unable to use a newsreader on a Mac?

Ohh, no, just stating the obvious that my XP System picks up 10x the garbage
on it in relation to my Mac. Granted, MSAS is Beta 1, but I too also had a
heck of a time trying to get malware/spyware off of it last week that is did
not even pick up. I will give MS the benefit of doubt that the software is
Free and Beta, but having to scan an system with 3 different programs is not
my idea of fun. So, yes, I express my disappointment with the software along
with sudha.

And I am smart enough to know that Macs will not solve the problem, jsut
like move from IE to FF will not fix the problem either.
