purchasing product key?? please help

can i buy just a product key from microsoft and use the disc i have for
installation i have a copy of xp and just bought a used laptop i want to
reformat that has no product key or discs can i buy just a product key from
microsoft or do i have to buy the disc and all??

Yes you can but the cost is only slightly less than the full retail price.
You will save money by buying a copy of the OS with key from a local or
online computer supply store.
