Publishing vs. Synchronizing

I am trying to determine if I really need to sychronize my remote server to
my local copy. Lately, with as large as my website has become, I cannot get
but a part of the website to synchronize. I usually get some kind of error
and (while all my extensions are working properly, based on server side
check) cannot seem to fully synchronize.

If I am designing, for example, a form that uses a server (remote) -side
database and I have the DSN assigned in both server and local, do I need to
synchronize or can I just do a one-way publish?

BTW, I am using FP2003 for all of these headaches.

As long as you do a one way publish with Change Page Only selected you should be fine. I use FP2000
w/F2002 extensions and it doesn't have the synchronize option and I have never had a problem working
with large sites.

Try cleaning out all FP cache and temp files
See http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm
- also make sure your local does not have and problem files (like thumbs.db)

PS
Agree w/ Thomas, I never use Synchronize (too many unknowns)
- just Publish (either way)
