public journals and public contacts

We recently switched to OUtlook 03 with exchange server as our CRM software
and I'm pretty frustrated that the create journal feature under a public
contact does not go to the public journal but the personal journal. However,
if I go to the public journal, browse for the public contact and enter the
journal that way it does fall in the public folder but this has WAY too many
steps.
Does anyone have a fix for this?

Exchange is not a CRM application. To make it one requires a lot of work, but there are applications that can add such capabilities -- see http://www.slipstick.com/addins/contact_management.htm. Still does not answer my question regarding why it works from public journal
to public contact but not the other way around.

Because the public contact folder doesn't know anything about the public journal folder.
