I am in a small office that is connected with a peer-to peer network. Is there a way to make folders public and share with other computers in the office. We have set our network up with each computer having a directory that all others can access. Our operating system is Windows 200 and we are using Outlook 2002. Outlook and folders are on each computer and are not in the shared directory.

Dear Pete,

By definition, Public Folders are stored on the Exchange
Server. So if you don't have Outlook set up as a network
application using Exchange, you can't have true Public
Folders.

However, you can set shortcuts to shared folders on your
Outlook bar. You say you have a directory that other
users can access. Using your Outlook bar, click on
the "Other Shortcuts" tab at the bottom. Find the shared
directory, or folders in the shared directory, and drag
them to Outlook bar, creating a shortcut to a shared
folder. That's one work-around.

BTW, I put all my Outlook bar shortcuts in the Outlook
shortcuts. I don't bother with separate groups of
shortcuts. Your mileage may vary.
