Hello,
My situation is this: I am a university student in a college, which I've
always classed as a public network for my Vista installation with no problems
Now I have a desktop AND my laptop here with me, but again that's not a
problem as I have 2 NIC's in my desktop, running Windows inbuilt ICS on the
primary adapter which again works fine.
Now that I have my laptop and desktop connected (both run Vista, desktop is
Ultimate, laptop is Business) I wanted to make the most of the connection. So
I the network on my laptop to be private and on my desktop to be private but
only for that network. No problems, I see my network list and I can see the
connection to my laptop is private.
Problems arise when I want to do things though. For example, I want to
browse the network to view files, and expect to see my laptop there when I
click Network. But Vista seems to think as the main network is private, it
won't bother showing anything unless I change the main network to public,
which obviously I don't want to do.
Same problem exists with Media Sharing using the snazzy new Windows Media
Sharing whatnot - I try to enable it and it says "whoa, you are on a public
network, sort that out first". Even though I do have a private interface, it
seems to ignore that fact.
Is there a way I can set up these features on one interface, without
necessarily being forced to set them up on another?
