.pub files

I have numerous files (.pub) set up in Windows 98 which I now wish to use in
Windows XP.
What action must I take.

Those are files created in MS Publisher. You need to install Publisher
on your XP machine. Make sure your version of Publisher is compatible
with XP. You can find out if your version is compatible by going to the
MS Publisher website at:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/default.aspx

If you don't have a CD of Publisher, you'll need to purchase and install
it to view those files.
