.pst not compatible from 2003 to 2000

I am backing a workstation down from Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2000. The .pst
file I exported indicates that it is not compatible with this version of the
Personal Folders information & the information service has not been
configured.

Is there any way to get the messages and address book back to Outlook 2000?

Thank you!
Mary

pst-files from Outlook 2003 are not compatible to earlier versions of
Outlook. To open a pst-file, that was created in Outlook 2003, in
Outlook 2000/2002, you have to create a new pst-file in Outlook 2003 in
the old pst-format (Personal folder (.pst) for Outlook (97-2002)).

File | New | Outlook-Datafile

Copy the whole content of the Outlook 2003 pst-file (Unicode) in this
new pst-file. Now you can open this file in Outlook 97/98/2000/2002.

Is this possible if I just have the file, but Outlook 2003 has already been
uninstalled?

No! You need Outlook 2003!
